I haven't seen this approach widely embraced. But I agree that it can transform the ways organizations make sense and take action. I remember meeting someone in the arts long ago whose title was "Director of Unified Income." I thought that was glorious.
Winston Churchill had a great quote about the built environment: "We shape our buildings, and afterwards our buildings shape us." I think organizations work the same way. There was (and is) value in separating earned from contributed income streams, so organizations structured themselves and their teams accordingly. But that structure ossified a way of seeing the world that isn't always useful.
