The 100th Field Note

On January 10, 2023, I posted the first ArtsManaged Field Note. Today, I’m posting the 100th. While I already had a long-standing blog – The Artful Manager, launched in 2003 – it seemed that the rising cost and complexity of professional development in the field demanded a more connected and coherent effort.
So, through the inspiration and insight of a dynamic learning community of faculty, alumni, and students at American University’s Arts Management Program, the ArtsManaged initiative launched with three components, all of which are still evolving:
ArtsManaged Field Notes: The weekly email/online newsletter you are reading now.
ArtsManaged Field Guide: An evolving, online, networked textbook for active and aspiring practitioners.
ArtsManaged Videos: Short overviews (most of them under 10 minutes) on key concepts, challenges, and frameworks for Arts Management.
All three are free, open, and interconnected. And the plan is to keep them going and growing in ways that are available to anyone (gotta figure out the language issue, but generative AI may solve that problem soon).
Since the purpose of all of these resources is to be of use, I’m taking this 100th post to learn about who you are, what you value, and what you’d change about this resource over the next 100 iterations.
